On the morning of 13th, February,2012, a delegation led by Mr. Wr. Kaluhath Upali Rajapakse, chief tech adviser to the President of Sri Lanka, visited DTVNEL. In recent years, Sri Lanka has been studying and selecting an international DTV standard, especially after China's DTMB became an international TV standard, Sri Lanka pays a strong attention to DTMB standard. The purposes of the delegation's visit is to establish friendly relations and cooperation with our laboratory.


 

During the meeting, Professor Yang Zhixing, Chairman of DTVNEL, introduced the development of DTMB terrestrial digital TV standard to Sri Lankan guests. Through the analysis and comparisons of four existing international TV standards, Professor Yang says that the advantages of DTMB standard are time and frequency domain processing technology, DTMB standard has a quite complete intellectual property rights. He described the performance of DTMB system with coverage characteristics and showed the test result of compared with other international TV standard. It is clarified that the cost-performance advantage of China's DTMB standard is more suitable for the construction of national TV broadcasting infrastructure.

Sri Lanka guests asked if DTMB will be replaced by DTMB-A, Professor Yang explained that DTMB and DTMB-A are two concomitant system DTMB-A is an evolution of DTMB Standard, which is used for higher quality TV transmission and triple play application, Even if DTMB is to be upgraded to the DTMB-A system, the system upgrade should be finished by software upgrading. In addition Professor Pan compared the performance between DTMB-A and DVB-T2 standard. Through a large number of data analysis, guests understood that DTMB-A standard is more advanced and cost-effective than DVB-T2 standard.

Sri Lanka guests listened carefully to Professor Pan's report and watched with great interest in the presentation of DTMB-A system. Finally, both 2 sides took kindly photo together.
